A new blog

Happy new year, everyone! I don’t have many new year’s “revolutions” for 2012, except to blog more diligently. With that in mind, I’ve started a new blog dedicated to the craft of writing fiction. Imaginatively, it’s called “fictioncraft”, and you can find it here.

As with Place of Safety, I’m really hoping people will form a community around the blog. Writing can be a lonely business, and we all benefit from sharing a little energy with like-minded writing friends now and then.

The idea of fictioncraft is to identify, discuss and experiment with specific techniques. I’ve posted a few writing exercises to get us started – I hope people will add their own. Happy writing!

About andreabaldwin

I'm a freelance writer, publishing travel articles and features. I also write short fiction and novels for adults, young adults and children. I've been a registered psychologist for 20 years, and my past careers have included clinical psychology, organisational psychology, and management. I'm interested in the interactions between people and places, particularly how the natural environment supports the health of individuals and communities, and the importance of caring for our environment. I'm also interested in the ways people use writing to better understand their own thoughts and feelings, and to connect with others.

Hi Andrea – good to see you in the blogsphere! I’ll pop your blog in my reader so I can catch all your posts. I’m writing stuff other than the two blogs at the moment, so this is of great interest. Also, we’re back in the Brisbane region since just before Christmas! Still facilitating and looking forward to a work trip to US next month.
